Beating your Wife is Prohibited in Islam! Get it Straight…..

salaam let me start with quoting a Hadith by our beloved Prophet Muhammad

“THOSE WHO DO SO (BEAT THEIR WIVES) ARE NOT THE BEST AMONG YOU” (Abu Dawood)

Now I’m tired of coming across TV shows like Glenn beck on CNN, who for those who don’t know, he is a uneducated conservative bias wanna be slick news anchorman, who has his on show on CNN which air’s around i don’t even know what time, because i guess for someone who presents issues like him with obviously little or no fair research, then his audience is going to be like a handful, and that’s why his show air’s around like 12 in the morning.

So why do I not agree with his view’s?

A couple of week’s ago he taught he was slick, he start discussing the issue of domestic abuse and statistics within certain countries, he somehow stated a so called “fact” and said that a lot of abuse which is reported, specifically husbands which beat up their wife, is within Muslim countries.

Then he said the Quran is to blame “astugfurillah”, by pulling out an ayah in the Quran which says you can beat your wife, he even got an arab lady to read the ayah in the Quran, and herself being loss in this issue started to flap on.

Now I’m not saying their aren’t some uneducated people out their who claim to be Muslims that do this, but we cannot judge Islam by these handful of extremists. Who just pick and choose and make their own Islam.

This is where the Problem arises, when you have people like Glenn Beck raised on a farm thinking they know how to interpret the Quran…

The Qur’an is very clear on this issue. Almighty Allah says: “Men are the protectors and maintainers of women, because Allah has given the one more strength than the other, and because they support them from their means. Therefore the righteous women are devoutly obedient and guard in the husband’s absence what Allah would have them to guard. As to those women on whose part you fear disloyalty and ill-conduct, admonish them (first), (next), refuse to share their beds, (and last) beat them (lightly); but if they return to obedience, seek not against them means (of annoyance); for Allah is most High and Great (above you all). If you fear a breach between them twain, appoint (two) arbiters, one from his family and the other from hers. If they wish for peace, Allah will cause their reconciliation; for Allah has full knowledge and is acquainted with all things.” (An-Nisa’: 34-35)

It is important to read the section fully. One should not take part of the verse and use it to justify one’s own misconduct. This verse neither permits violence nor condones it. It guides us to ways to handle delicate family situation with care and wisdom. The word “beating” is used in the verse, but it does not mean “physical abuse”. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) explained it “dharban ghayra mubarrih” which means “a light tap that leaves no mark”. He further said that face must be avoided. Some other scholars are of the view that it is no more than a light touch by siwak, or toothbrush.

SO DON’T BEAT YOUR WIFE OR BE MISUNDERSTOOD ON THIS ISSUE!!! Muslims assert that Islam honors and respects women, giving them rights that promote and preserve their human dignity.

As our Beloved Prophet Muhammad said:

“Do not beat the female servants of Allah”

“Some (women) visited my family complaining about their husbands (beating them). These (husbands) are not the best of you.”

Inshallah Allah give us true understanding of Islam and guide those who trying to mess up Islam, and help all those who are misinterpreting the Quran and Sunnah….So No our woman aren’t oppressed.
