Salam Yo,
Tying a tie is a mission, wearing it is even harder nowadays. Recently I’ve been coming across random brother’s who believe that wearing a tie is haraam. Chill out! You gotta look fresh sometimes and coming with the argument that it’s impermissible to wear a tie does not have a sound basis. No I’m not saying this because I like imitating the kuffar but Top scholars such as Mufti Taqi Usmani have said that your allowed to.
You seen my man Zakir Naik rocking a new tie and suit every time he air’s out his challenger in a debate. That’s because our beloved Prophet Muhammad (s) used to look his best whenever he went out. YOUR REPRESENTING ISLAM! keep that in mind. People like to O.D. (overdose) on the phrase “imitating the kuffar”. On the weekend I went to Ilm fest and Shaykh Yasir Qadhi spoke about this issue also. He said that wearing a tie is permissible, in addition he also stated that imitating the kufr is when you give up your beliefs for something else. Such as celebrating christmas, easter, so on and so fourth.
At the end of the day the Shariah has guidelines for both how men and woman should dress and we should’nt take things out of context. One thing that’s interesting to me is that I have never seen Shaykh Hamza Yusuf wear a tie. hmm..wonder why? Besides that point he is what Shaykh Faraz Rabbani from Sunnipath had to say
The fuqaha have talked about this extensively. The conclusion is that it is permitted to wear ties, though better not to when reasonably possible.
It is not considered imitation of the kafirs because it is not something that is uniquely characteristic of them, unless one does so because one WANTS to be like kafirs are. The argument that the origins of ties are the Christian cross have not sound basis, as Mufti Taqi Usmani and other scholars have showed.
And Allah knows best
Wassalam,
Faraz Rabbani
Check it out, if your still having doubt’s then you can even buy non silk ties from here.
To wrap it all up, I had to watch a video from you tube to learn how to tie a tie. Inshallah just keep this information in mind and keep yourself looking fresh for the ummah. I know you want to wear one on your wedding day.
Would you wear a tie? Why or Why not? Holla at me. Wasalaam.

how about leaving the sunnah dress part why are we so much adamant in dressing ourselves away from the traditional sunnah we should dress in a tie and suit only if one has to, otherwise stick to the dressing of our prophet. there is much wisdom in that. why promote it?
Abu Lahab also dressed with a Turban and Arab garments. There is nothing spiritual or holy about the type of clothes you wear. We just wear clean covering clothes earned with halal money and thats what Allah (S) requires of us.
On the flip side the companions did everything to emulate the prophet, so hopefully if you wear clothes with that intention Allah will reward you, but its nothing more than just that.
Asalamu Alaykum Wa Rahmatuh Allahi Wa Barakayuh;
You forgot to mention that shykh Qadir yasir said that it is not premissible to wear a pure slik ties. men are not allowed to wear gold or slick. However, he also said that most ties are not made of pure silk, they are usually made out of synthetic silk. Wa Allahu A'lam ofcourse.
Most ties are made of silk. I have never seen a tie made of "syntheitic silk."
i like ties; but if they were haram i wouldn't. of course
We all should know that ties are not Haraam and is not originated from the cross(how absurd!) How ever i disagree with Azeem that
"There is nothing spiritual or holy about the type of clothes you wear"
There is lot of spiritual gain and holy in enacting anything about our beloved Prophet peace be upon him
it also Symbolises us as muslims and a better allegiance to our Prophet
if people out of love dressed as Princess Diana did why cant this be an example for us
we love our prophet and so we should follow him in every way where possible inclusive of dressing
what you whear is what you are and truly saying if you want to be close to the prohet then dress like him
not forgetting it would be a bigger sunnah to dress in a tie where there is a need eg uniformity at work place
to respect the institution you work for
to be representable to the group you are with
for dawah purposes
etc etc
My point was to say that the Sunnah is to obey and follow the actions of the prophet, not to dress like an Arab.
whatever !
whatever the prophet did or say automatically becomes a sunnah whether it was arab custom or an english
There are three different definitions of Sunnah amongst the different types of scholars. The scholars of Usul-ul-Fiqh (who derive laws from Qur'an, Sunnah, Hadith, and the secondary sources) do not accept customary things from the prophets life to be considered Sunnah. For example it is not Sunnah according to their definition to Ride a Camel, although the prophet rode a camel. He did that by virtue of living in that time and place, and so did everyone else. So there is nothing prophetic (or special) about that action by itself. So when we talk about injunctions- what Muslims are commanded to do, we should follow this definition.
When we talk about motivating people to become better Muslims we can broaden the scope and use the other definitions. But don't make Islam hard on people. People came to the prophet and he gave them simple advice such as following the 5 pillars, he didnt go on to say.. oh and wear a turban etc.
Also look into the life of Salman-al-Farsi (R) who was a persian and I believe he did not change his dress to an Arab dress, so he could distinctly be recognized for his own heritage. Might want to look more into that.
I bought some ties from Jaan J. – Halal Non Silk Ties & Cotton Ties and mashaAllah, they are really nice. I've worn silk ties in the past before realizing that silk is haram for men, and I must say that the Jaan J. ties are comparable if not better than all the silk ties I have owned (I bought expensive name brand silk ties before being told). Jaan J. has provided a necessary option that I wish I would have thought of
lol.
Also, I'm not so sure about people telling me that most silk ties are made from synthetic silk (why even bother with the doubtfulness when you can just buy Jaan J.?). If it was synthetic silk, it would be stated on the tags or then it wouldn't be classified as silk, right? (and I have never ever seen in my life a tag that says "100% Synthetic Silk" and I am a TIE wearer, but I must admit that I have seen it on clothing). Hmmmm. All I know is that there are many grades of silk, so there is even cheap silk that could be classified as synthetic because it is so poor. Whatever.
Anyways, enough ranting. Jaan J. – Halal Non Silk Ties & Cotton Ties doesn't need anymore promoting lol. The ties, gift box, service and everything else speak for themselves. I definitely recommend them.
I thought I would share with you the information that ties that are labelled as 'silk' which are made by Debenhams (own brand, including Osborne)are made from prosthetic or synthetic silk, and not silk made from cocoons.
I personally phoned Debenhams to obtain this information. They also said that ties made from natural silk would be very expensive (around £50 or more). I have also looked into the material used to make synthetic silk ties, and they are often nylon-based – http://pwatlas.mt.umist.ac.uk/internetmicroscope/….
Hope this helps the many tie-wearers in making their personal decisions to wear or not to wear silk ties.
i recently received a nice jaan j. tie as an eid gift and soon after purchased some more ties because the non silk quality was great. afterwards i bought a couple more and to my surprise they sent me a free tie and a little letter that said to accept the tie as a gift because of being a loyal customer. i was pretty shocked. now this is a company we can be proud of. it is important that we support businesses like jaan j. that set high standards for our ummah.
jaan j. must have just put this up. i completely agree. please support businesses that make us proud. http://www.jaanj.com/store-locations.html
Is it allowed for Muslims to wear a Tie?
(Darul Uloom Amjadia, India, Printed in Monthly Kanzul Iman, India)
Q: Tie is commonly used among western community. Now it has become common among Muslims too. Especially during wedding ceremony Groom wears a tie with pride and some Muslim children also wear a tie in schools. Is it allowed for Muslims?
A: Hozoor Muftee-e-Azam Hind Aleh Rehma-tu-Rizwan writes that to wear a tie is definitely Haram and is a resemblance of Kafir. It is a bad deed and an open disobedience of ALLAH Tala Wal Ikram. In Christianity, tie is a remembrance of their false belief of crucifixion of Hazrat Syedna Masih Alhe Salam and forgiveness for Christians. (Fatwa Mustafvia, on page 526) Therefore it is not allowed for Muslims to wear a tie neither during a wedding ceremony nor on any occasion. Do not send your children to schools where tie is a part of uniform code. Because wearing a tie is Haram and it is a must for Muslims to refrain him/herself from Haram and also protect his/her family from Haram.
Allah Tala says *1, means "O believers!, 'save yourselves and your family members from the fire of hell". (Part 28, Soorah Tehreem, Ayah 6) Allah Ta'ala Knows the best.
*1
Can anybody specify any ayat or hadith, where it can be proved not to wear tie. I have seen many people are praying with wearing suits and tie (in Gulf and western countries). I don't think they are not aware of it.
Dear Readers, AS Salamu Alaikum,
When you talk about Islam,First analyse what Islam is.
Islam was first came with Holy Adam( AS) & will continue for ever INSHALLAH .There is no end of islam:
For Islam Proclaims:LAILAHA Illal La"
ALLAH SWT has no beginning & no end .All 124,000 came
with the message & everything reads the name of ALLAH SWT in their own way & Bows down to none but HIM alone..
The first creation of ALLAH SWT was the soul of Holy Prophet Mohammed & remained in the Holy Arsh as long as ALLAH SWT wanted Him to be there. But the Soul of Holy Prophet Mohammed kept of reading the Tasbi of ALLAH SWT in various stages. Holy Prophet Mohammed was so much loved by ALLAH SWT: The day ALLAH SWT created the Soul of Holy Prophet Mohammed" ALLAH SWT said Ya Mohammed you are blessed for If I have not created you, I will not have created the universe".
After the creation of the Soul of Holy Prophet Mohammed ALLAH Pak ( Scientists called it Big Bang) We call the the order of ALLAH SWT:) ALLAH SWT created the HOLY PEN
& ordered the pen to write the creation started with first by Bismillah Hir Rahmanir Rahim, next, the Word was LAILAHA ILLAL LA Mohammedur Rusul ALLAH!
Blessing of ALLAH is that Holy Prophet is the first & last prophet of the mankind.Arabic is the spoken words of Paradise.Holy Prophet did not have shadow of his body, Cloud used provide him coolness in the blazing sun"
Then Glorious ALLAH called out everything come willingly or unwillingly.
Proton, nutron, electron & all mass power ,earth,Air,Light came in to being where mind of scientists cannot penetrate.
As a researcher of theology I can go on writing
INSHALLAH. but to shorten it:
Holy Prophet is Prophet of mankind: He never cursed even non Muslims but He rather prayed for them to become Muslim.
Islam stand on kindness: Once you accept Islam, propagate not only Islamic brotherhood but universal brother hood. Read Sura Kafirun.
When we go for Hajj: we donot carry germ of hate against any person or any Hindu or any Idol or even against satan: All we say Aujubillah Himinus satan:
We cannot abuse him.
Similarly we cannot bear hate against any western dress unless its open nudity ,short dress & the like.
We cannot wear gold & silk dress. We who live in EEC or west must not show that we hate them and go on hating their dress for hate will render hate.
I believe we should wear any good & beautiful dress in the time of prayer (not for show). Be they selwar Kamiz or suit or tie.so long not showing arrogance.
Holy Quran does not prescribe any dress. Our First Sunnah not dress, clean heart, simplicity in behaviour,
smily face, making new friends, But it is a great & shocking for us that we use Jehad for war but jehad is truly self control which we never do, come out of Mosque without smile & even with out saying salam to others.
So forget the tie talk about rectification of ill manners, self control, criticism on others .
This is the true guidance of Islam .Believe in ALLAH &
all Holy Prophets ,Mohammed (MSAS) as the last Holy prophet & live in peace with all humanbeing of all Religion & all Nationalities.
Thanking you.

i agree with the initial argument. unless you can find direct reference in the quran or hadiths that it is forbidden to wear a garment as such, we have no reason to believe it is forbidden. in which case we can argue that wearing basic shirts and trousers are symbolic of kuffar, its illogical. the highlighted references regarding matters of garment speak of how you wear clothing, i.e related to the figure of the body, the cleanliness of garments, the wearing of silk for men etc it is unthinkable really, it follows that it is your character first and foremost that should be perfected, and would therfore be reflected in ones dress. you wont find a satan worshipping goth subcultured individual in a masjid now would you? ties are merely part of a transitory phase, which is not defined as haram and not imodest as far as the understanding of the western world goes.
hmm! right… wearing tie is not forbidden.
the tie originated from croatia
