Ramadan 2008

Salam believers and Non Muslims, ramadan-official.jpgI wanted to do an early Ramadan Post.

It’s good to be ahead of the game, because like the student that prepares for the lesson before its taught by the teacher, then he or she tends to do better.

Well Ramadan is coming, shatan is going, and the samosas will start rolling. We all will Inshallah have an oppurtunity to reflect deeply where we stand as believers, because since shatan is locked up like a criminal, and the chains are on him, we can work on the soul.

Some of  us will get fat, some of us will get slim, others will remain the same but Inshallah we all can escape our animalistic desires and attain taqwa and then pass the phatwa, Chill, gotta be a Mufti to do that =P.

I would say that to be aware of the fact that Allah swt let you live through the month is a great mercy, so take advantage of it. Like the wise people say ” Nothing is promised tomorrow”. As a matter of fact, a wise man told me the only thing promised in life is death, so yea make moves. Anyhows every year Ramadan flys by, we finally get in the mode of waking for fajr and getting right.

I have to admit for those of us who have to juggle a heavy schedule it can get tough, I’ll inshallah be fasting, going to college, working and going to tarawih. Inshallah maybe even spend extra time in the Masjid and stack up on the rewards, gotta get my halal hustle on. The real investment is in the hereafter, so stack accordingly.

But my schedule is nothing, it’s not even a real struggle. Imagine all the hafiz’z who lead the Salat, they have to be on top of their game reciting for the big jamaat every night. So before I stretch this article like a giraffes neck, let me give some quick points to wrap it up.

Tips for Ramadan

1) *Self Regulation and Self Training – Remember these Principles

2) Work on Tawqa which means in Arabic ” God conciousness, Attaining Piety, God fearing and more”

3) Control your dietary intake – Forget jenny craig, Ramadan helps you get in shape and its free. Just free yourself of your desires.

4) The truth comes out, whether its focused on music, woman, drugs, not praying Salat. In Ramadan you must get real with yourself and figure out where your weak.

5) Yes their are Psychological effects of fasting, but as our beloved Prophet Muhammad (s) said ” If one slanders you or aggresses against you, say “I’m fasting”.

6) Help the needy, drop it like its hot ( Money in the donation box)

Good information posted in a (very) down to earth manner.

I recently wrote an article at http://www.islamiclearningmaterials.com/what-is-r… where I tried to explain the benefits of Ramadan for non-Muslims and new Muslims.

One interesting thing I never thought about was the Night of Power, Zakah, and Eid ul fitr are all related to Ramadan. That's three more excellent chances to increase our iman and barakah.

Allah is truly merciful for giving us so many opportunities to get ourselves right. Inshallah, I hope we all take advantage of them.

From Indonesia I would like to say: May Alllah accept our efforts and make every moment of this month a means of receiving His Mercy, Blessing and Forgiveness. May we all be granted a place in Jannah, Aameen.

Loved your start-up kit. Thanks for this good post. God willing, this will be my third Ramadan mashala and now I know I can fast. I have a lot on my plate but I know now that the fasting can be strength as well as stress. Also love all the online reminders of umma. Amin to Syam's prayer.
