Mecca Super-Hotel to offer Spa, Butler and a Chocolate Room

So much hardship and sacrifice, I thought we were supposed to get away from the dunya when we go to Mecca.

I better hurry up and go to hajj, haha. Well I guess it depends how you look at it.

Anyways the hotel will be owned by Raffles Hotels and Resorts, the luxury hotel in Mecca will offer pilgrims a coffee sommelier, a chocolate room where chefs will prepare bespoke pralines and truffles, and a 24-hour butler service.

The hotel will also have segregated gyms, beauty parlors, grooming salons and a spa.

Hmm…sounds like a nice honeymoon.

Mohammed Arkobi, the general manager of the new hotel, did not explain how a chocolate room and spa would help pilgrims achieve spiritual fulfillment. Nor was he able to comment on how the amenities complied with the ethos of the hajj, which is about simplicity and humility.

But he did say that the “comprehensive range of services” were designed to meet the needs of the “discerning” travelers they were targeting.

  3. One development that will dominate the skyline and the Grand Mosque is the Makkah Royal Clock Tower, The tower will be among the tallest in the world, 577 meters, In addition to 1,005 guest rooms, the tower will also house a lunar observation center and Islamic museum
  4. Raffles Mecca is due to open in April 2010.

MashaAllah! I guess those poor starving ppl in the world can starve some more and the discerning ones will just admire the clock and moon (from the lunar tower) when they go to Hajj instead of doing what they're really supposed to do. SubhaanAllah, how deceptive Shaitaan is and muslims like those are itching to make him more powerful. Is this how empty and proud some muslims are? Instead of giving the money to the needy and living a simple life they had to go build an unnecssary HO-TEL!!!! May Allah save the believers from His wrath against the covetous ones and guide us into His jannah and save us from the Hell-fire, Ameen Ameen Ameen.

Wow dissapointment after dissapointment! Completly agree with Al Harbi. I've also heard they have or are going to have a Mcdonalds and Victorias Secret across the street from the hajj too…..

    :(

Hajj is for Ibadah not for splurge….

My dad went on a journey in 1970's on a ship from India to Mecca for Hajj, they stayed in tents, faced the maximum hardship to complete Hajj but now Hajj is all about Luxury…

Qayamah is near :) lets become Hajis in Style :)

    Ameen..

    Asalamualaikum,

It's sad to see this, along with the corrupt Saudi regime destroying historic sights. While I was in Madina last year I saw an old abandoned mosque built around 600 years ago due to be demolished, it was heartbreaking to see that our Islamic heritage and history is being destroyed by those who claim they are Muslim.

However, it's also a Prophecy of Prophet(SAW) that has to come to pass. So we have to use them to our advantage by relfecting and realising that we truly are in the latter stages of the final days now. Truly this world will come to an end, and all these sad things are signs for us to reflect on so that we can get ourselves on the right path.

Naked, destitute, barefoot shepherds will compete in building tall buildings. [Bukhari]

This building is a travesty that drawfs the Ka'aba and how we practice our religion. I went to this building and it feels like a shopping mall. It has brand name stores, fast food, Starbucks of all things, and it will not improve any ones sprituality when they do Hajj.

if only there was something we could do t stop this horrendous event from ever occurring.but our protests will never be heard.they are wrongfully trying to modernise islam just like they have done 2 christianity over the years.beware people!

Alhumdulillah, I went to Makkah for my Umrah in May this year, its just an amazing experience to be there and Voila the Huge Clock Tower is Bang opposite the Haram with few 5 star hotels and Big Shopping Mall in it. Wish there were no Tall buildings around Haram :( anyways i hope to perform my Hajj with my mom soon, so please pray for us.

Not really…. that actually makes me a little upset… I mean if it were for a regular vacation, but Hajj is supposed to be NOT easy-breezy, right?

I feel like this just strips all the significance of humility and equality from the experience…
