Kentucky Fried Chicken Opens First Halal Restaurant in New York City! Where? Brooklyn.

Salam yo, halal kentucky fried chicken opens in NYC brooklyn

It’s about time the finger licken chicken came to NYC! I made a special request in my last article for halal franchises including KFC, hoping they would come to the big apple, and yea I guess my prayers got answered, ha.

Alhumdulilah it came to Brooklyn first, the best city in the world. Right? Right?

I always argued one of the reasons many Muslims don’t eat halal is because of availability, but that’s changing now. So no more excuses, you are what you eat.

More and more companys are appealing to the Muslim market and we are starting to see a trend emerge.

Where is this Halal KFC located?

208 McGuinness Boulevard, Brooklyn, NY 11222

I called the restaurant up personally since it wasn’t verified on yet, and the brother who’s father owns the restaurant told me the Fried chicken and Kentucky grilled chicken is Halal, however none of the sandwiches are.

Here is the # if any of you want to call personally – 1718-383-6666

He told me there will be another location opening up in Manhattan soon insh’Allah.

I can definitely feel the wave coming now, we’re going to start seeing domino’s, popeyes, pizza hut, burger king, mcdonalds go halal.

They aren’t going to have a choice if they want to keep up, since KFC has already introduced a halal menu.

I bet Colonel Sanders never thought his franchise would be marketing to Muslims.

Leave one third of your stomach empty, Enjoy =)

Great news. It was only a matter of time. Pretty much all of the Popeyes in Toronto and its suburbs are Halal (entire menu). Halal KFCs have started to enter the market there too. Great to see it finally happen here.

Definitely will be going there soon.

can u please tell me all the halal kfc's pleaseeee.

u have to be careful also.

Since they are selling Non-Halal sandwiches but the same hands are being used to make both products which means transfer of haram chicken particles to the halal particles..u feel me..basic chemistry…

One brother gives the example…take a cup of pure milk and put in their half a drop of urine…will u drink it…

i'm not being nasty or anything..

U just have to be Carful..

a Muslim scholar I know personally for many many years,

he sits on the Shariah Board of North America.

They did an entire investigation with the meat products that come to USA and where they are coming from..

Believe it or not many of the distributors that deliver meat on coney island avenue..that meat was traced all the way back to New Zealand and Brazil..

Company like As-Salam…was halal..until recently discovered that they mix meat with haram meat so it is not ok for us as True Muslims to eat from that company.

Its very detailed. those that are ignorant say they are getting too extreme.

just giving my two sense since i was taking a break from study.

    Peace Yo,

    I'm Ahson Yo

Do you have any substantial proof to your statement about AS-Salam?

Just as a response to brother Ashan,

I had recently been to this KFC at 208 Mcguinness Blvd, and had the same concern. I spoke to the manager on duty and he had assure me that it is mandatory for his employees to change their gloves when moving from TacoBell to KFC and preparing meals. In addition they have 4 seperate dedacated fryers for all halal products. New york Health department watches over cross contamination very carefully when inspecting all franchises. "It is KFC policy that all of thier employees must use tongs when picking up the chicken or other various products", told by the manager.

this being said there is no mixing of the oil between Haram and Halal products! I have watched them after ordering my food and brothers i am happy to say that this is a true HALAL KFC that we can all finally enjoy!

Another one of my famous sandwich spots…Al Noor Deli on 4th avenue…Guess what my cousin walked into store early in the morning…and saw the mexican in the back taking meat out of Purdue chicken bags…..

….Anybody want to Buy Halal Zabihah Stickers…I can get them…no joke..haha

That joint is disgusting, haram just by its tardiness

    Peace be upon you!

If any of these fast-food franchises need any models to follow, they can look at South-East Asia.

Here in Singapore, we have halal KFC, McDonalds, Burger King, Pizza Hut and even Popeye's.

Some of them even offer free dates when breaking fast in Ramadhan.

And I'm not talking about one or two stores, the whole chain here is halal. It is verified and approved by the Islamic religious council here.

Maybe in America, the halal or Muslim market is not that big and halal meat might be hard to come by, but this examples show that halal menus are possible.

It just needs a bit of an open mind and a bit of work. :)

uhhh, SAAD and everyone else there.

if you're gonna call, call asking the RIGHT questions

they say that they are halal,

yet when you ask them if their meat is HAND-SLAUGHTERED they say no, it's MACHINE SLAUGHTERED.

now for many of you that might not be a difference…

but let's not go around saying they are 100% halaal without giving everyone all of the facts.

    • H.Haq November 23, 2009 at 3:44 am #

That's how you'll find 99% of the meat in the US. If you picture an uncle sitting there in his shalwar kamiz, with shalwar rolled up to his knees (picturing Pakistan here) then that's not the case in most slaughter houses. They slaughter by the hundreds per day.

      • Me April 16, 2011 at 7:26 pm #

No need to picture an uncle sitting there in his shalwar kameez, there's also hand-slaughtered plants that slaughter by the hundreds or thousands per day. They use equipment just like other plants which carry the chickens to the point of slaughter at a fast rate, but instead of an automated blade they have Muslims standing at the line to slaughter the chickens.

I spoke to the manager and the owner, they are Pakistanis who started this up. They said explicitly that currently only the classic chicken items (including grilled chicken are halal from the meat). They said they are trying to get the sandwiches to be halal as well. If you know anything about chains you have to understand every item has to come from an approved distributer. They said they were confident they would be able to get everything halal in the future. I believe them because when I was getting the mashes potatoes a common worker told me the gravy is not halal but the mashed potatoes themselves are fine.

The grilled chicken is great, the regular chicken is good (Halal Popeyes in VA was better though!).

I found out last night that there is a Halal KFC on Liberty Ave in Richmond Hill. I googled it and found it on

    121-14 Liberty Avenue, Queens

    Asslam-o-Alekum ALL,

I own two KFC stores in West coast and I just want to let you all know that no matter if all the meat is halal the grilled chicken can never be 100% halal as the seasoning of grilled chicken has beef ingridents in it. So be very careful if you eat 100% zabihah meat.

Other than that all is great, also the Mashed potatoe gravy is not halal as it has regular beef broth in it.

Just thought to inform you all.

Its so sad to hear that in a country like the US, you still don't have halal Kfc, or Mcdonalds? etc…Australia proved full halal menus in most of the top Fast food places.

    Assalaamu 'alaikum

Halal is a lot more than "Zabiha". The animals have to be fed pure clean food, and not tormented or kept cooped up. And they have to be slaughtered in the proper manner, severing just the jugular vein and not the nerves, so there is a chance for all the blood to get pumped out by the heart. I hope these things are not being neglected!

There iz also a chain of Zabihah Kfc's in Los Angeles called Kazhi Foods I believe. I also wanted to say to many who are posting about HALAAL AND HARAAM meat. There iz a big difference in Zabihah and non zabihah, however the difference iz not alwayz that it iz "HARAAM". We all know that Zabihah iz preferred, but can someone show me a solid hadith stating otherwise its "haraam"? Be careful not to innovate people. Halaal and haraam are two very strong and specific words. If you don't have the evidence to back up what you say,I would steer clear of it. Alhamdililah for the post. May Allah increase us all with knowledge. Allauma Ameen.

I would like to know the source of where the chicken comes from. I am curious because I want to know if you guys get your chicken from the same place as all the other non halal franchise???

  16. Sam July 30, 2012 at 7:46 am #

Shouldn’t non halal eaters have a choice to eat what we like as well? So we shouldn’t eat Bacon in case it offends? Same thing has happened in the UK, but they had to stop selling halal in some branches. I think everyone should have a choice.

Great blog! Sorry to change the subject, but, I’m new to town and I’d like to find a great auto repair in Nashville TN. Have you read any recent buzz? There’s a new auto repair shop called Veterans Auto Services, but I’ve only seen a few reviews. Here’s the address of this new Nashville Auto Repair, Veterans Auto Services 2404 Cruzen St Nashville, TN 37211 (615) 712-9777. Thoughts? Thanks!

There is really no way to know if a franchise or individual store has halal meat. There have been others elsewhere who have claimed as much just to have it shown later that such is not the case. The Zubibah site says that managers or owners can provide halal dishes upon request, yet unless they are the ones actually butchering the animals at their stores, which does not happen, then their word is only as good as the ones shipping them the product, and their word is only as good as the ones supplying it to the distributor. They cannot say with any measure of certainty that what they serve is halal. If KFC and other restaurants started to offer kosher products, the same criticisms would apply. Yet I don’t hear an uproar from Jews trying to force restaurants to conform to their dietary laws, and the reason is probably because such could never be verified in such a context.

I would never knowingly eat anything that is claimed to be halal, whether it could be confirmed or not, simply because it would lend credence to Islamic ideology, which I find most offensive and intolerant in its actions to force sharia on the larger non-Muslim populace.
