, The First Ever Islam-Safe Search Engine Launches

Muslims can now search the internet without searching through content that is considered haram — forbidden according to Islamic Law — through a new search engine, Dutch media company AZS Media Company announced today.

The site offers a broad range of functions that are developed specifically to increase the users search experience. Besides focusing to be a great Islamic search engine, also aims to deliver the best search product as well.

Founder Reza Sardeha saying that he got the idea for the website after he and his friends kept getting explicit content when they would use regular search engines like Yahoo! and Google:

“First of all, we have blocked all sexually explicit content. We are also in talks with Imams [Muslim scholars] to determine what might be considered haram and therefore be blocked.”

the press release said:

Well though i'm not here to praise the brothers, its best i recognise their contribution – Well done guys! Thats it, enuf sed!

I'm sure this isnt the first time i have come across an islamic search engine, i cant mention many bcos i cant remember but def i know of 'islamic google' yup.. Tho i'm so used to google i neva used it more than twice.

Search engines are getting safer as opposed to the late 90's jus wen i started surfin.. You wil hardly click 5 times without jumpin to an unwanted site – guys i dont knw when that idea dawned on you but i've been surfin safely for many years now with hardly anything poppin up – and the little extra unhalal there is, islamic google or other kids friendly engines have taken care of.

Please no need to be defensive for this aint an offensive.. Jus kinda puttin things in perspective. Not tryin to take anything away frm yuz either.. So thumbs up, carry on the good work and may Allah reward yuz and bless yuz with more insight to serve the ummah better.

If anyone doesnt understand my point above, in a few words to sum it up…… its not the first ever!

    Salam. I am from Malaysia.

I was so excited when I found out about 'iamhalal'. I have been promoting it to my muslim community as to how we can make surfing the www much more safer for our children. All was fine until one of my friends did a search in our own language (Malay Language) to test the safety of 'iamhalal' search engine with regards to porno sites; we were disturbingly surprised that results from the search did list sites that are of that nature. I had to pacify these groups by saying, among other things, that since 'iamhalal' is a new kid on the block, we should give them a chance to look into this problem and allow them to seek a solution to it.

    I do have a suggestion.

I believe that the Malay Language Vocabulary should be studied by your team in order to understand which words would and/or could trigger undesirable search results. The Malay Language is spoken by about 250 million people ( 90% Muslims) in South East Asia. I believe that we form the next biggest language block of internet users after the English Language, who would be using 'iamhalal' search engine.

It is unfortunate that they shut down. In a way Mr. Sardeha is right in his assessment that Muslims just feel safer investing in "safer" real estate developments. The problem with Mena investors is that they want a quick return on their money from the first year. Innovative technology solutions require several rounds of financing and several years to make a return. Tech investors need to be long-winded, and unfortunately in MENA they are not. I have been reviewing the history of, and if this group was a Jewish firm or decided to take money from non-Muslims, they would have received funding the quickest way possible. In 2011, USA based VCs incested $27 Billion in Internet Technologies, they invest in thouthands of seed start-ups and know that only a Dozen would probably make it, but that those Dozen will make them more money than anything else out there.

The Muslim world, MENA and S.Asia Regions will only invest in Technology Companies that proved success and profits over a few years (they only want to fund a sure bet). I greatly sympathyze with Reza. One solution for financing Islamic Technologies is The PIOUS WAQF, – where the Founder, who strictly refused much offered non-Muslim funding, gave up looking for money and support from Islamic Governments and Rich Muslims and figured the only way to go forward is to make an Independent Islamic Friendly Internet Space by getting young Muslims all over the world to contribute in small quantities and join forces in a huge non-profit global collaborative effort.

Visit and read the READ ME FIRST section, it will show how dangerous it is not to invest in Islamic Friendly Internet Technologies.

has a Facebook account and she’s listed as a friend on your profile with her
