Go Memorize the 99 Names of Allah

Today is 9/9/09, now go memorize the 99 names of Allah =)! It was the first thought that came to my mind when I thinking about the date, so I put it up as my facebook status.

So why should you memorize the 99 names of Allah (swt)?

The Messenger of Allah (صلى الله عليه و سلم) said:

إِنَّ لِلَّهِ تِسْعَةً وَتِسْعِينَ اسْمًا مِائَةً إِلاّ وَاحِدًا مَنْ أَحْصَاهَا دَخَلَ الْجَنَّةَ .

Translation: Indeed, Allah has 99 names (one hundred minus one); whoever memorizes them will enter Jannah. [Saheeh Bukhari and Saheeh Muslim]

insh’Allah I’m going to start memorizing them, time to empty out the rest of the junk sitting in our memory like celebrity names and people that won’t ever effect our life’s.

    So basically, memorize Allah's 99 names = get reward.

    It's always about a reward with Islam isn't it?

      You make it seem like a bad thing, its not really a reward but you'll get something out of it for your self. You'll feel good about it, no one is giving you anything. Its not about the rewards but its to see of you do it or not, for yourself not just to show off.

      In essence, EVERYTHING you do is in exchange for some reward. It's just that some rewards are more gratifying and beneficial to you than others.

      Watching TV gives you a few hours of entertainment as your reward; however, you've got to admit that it's often mindless entertainment.

      The satisfaction you get from better knowing your Lord and Creator will prepare you for your Final Test, gives you a beneficial way to spend your time, and increases your memorizing power! (which helps for other tests like bio =X )
