Why You Shouldn’t Hate on the Scholars

It seems like every time you mention a scholar now, their always has to be one brother who starts hating and some controversy has to come up.

I often hear “oh he’s sufi or he’s salafi, stay away from him”.

All I gotta say is “Chill Yo Islam Yo”. People have a habit of throwing random labels out on scholars and Muslims in general when they don’t even know where these terms originated from or what they even mean.

I always notice how people expose some mistakes from a scholar, they won’t acknowledge any contribution the scholar had to Islam whatsoever. When it comes to pointing out the bad quality’s, some brothers are fast like Ramadan, but when it comes to talking about the good quality’s then you won’t hear anything.

Yea you don’t need to agree with everything one particular scholar says, no one is saying to blind follow, but just keep it real and be considerate. You can give the scholar some credit for taking time out in his life and calling people to Islam.

Yea we all make mistakes and scholars make mistakes, the only perfect book is the Qu’ran and if you haven’t noticed already we are humans not angels.

It’s easy to complain about how things are going wrong, but if you can’t produce a better solution then stop wining.

So be careful how you judge the scholars and who you start saying is deviant. The tongue can lead you to the hell fire.

Another thing which really upsets me is when new Muslims are exposed to stuff like this. This kind of useless talk and unnecessary conversation just scares people away from the deen. Squash the Haram beef!

I’m not saying their are people we should stay away from, but their is tolerance to a certain degree and differences are a blessing in the Ummah when they are kept within the boundaries of the Shariah.

So why should you respect the scholar?

Abu Umamah (may Allah be pleased with him) said that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) was informed about two men: a scholar and a devout worshiper. Thereupon, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said, “The scholar is more superior to the devout worshiper by the same amount that I am superior to the lowest amongst you.”

Then, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) added, “Surely, Allah, His Angels, the inhabitants of heavens of earth, and even the ant in its nest, and the whale in the sea pray for him who teaches people virtue.” (Reported by At-Tirmidhi)

Anyways, I’m sure you guys have been in this situation before, where brothers and sisters are arguing about who’s on the straight path and who isn’t. Nowadays I find people very restricted to one particular scholar or group. Mash’Allah we have alot of bring minds and imams in North America and we should be thankful to Allah swt for allowing us to learn from them.

Their is no reason why we shouldn’t be able to listen and extract good from both Sheikh Yasir Qadhi and Sheikh Hamza Yusuf at the same time. (May Allah swt perseve both of them)

Enough said, I pray Allah swt keeps us all on the truth and gives us the ability to take which is beneficial and leave that which does not help us in this world or the hereafter, Ameen.
