Welcome Ramadan
Salam, Alhumduillah the Month of Ramadan is almost here, and inshallah we will all be able to fast, and not just starve and think about food all day, but actually clean our hearts out from sins that we have committed throughout life and especially this year, and ask forgiveness from Allah for all the mistakes we have done.
I don’t know about you guys but last year Ramadan flew by, and before i knew it shatan was on my back again, and during Ramadan i believe one thing i looked out for was just how i really was, because we know that shatan is locked up during Ramadan, so how we are is reflects the state of our hearts.
From the way we talk, to the level of remembrance of Allah in our lives, i think its something deeply to think about in ramadan where we stand as Muslims to our relationship with Allah.
Our beloved Prophet Muhammad addressed his companions on the last day of Sha`ban, saying, “Oh people! A great month has come over you; a blessed month; a month in which is a night better than a thousand months; month in which Allah has made it compulsory upon you to fast by day, and voluntary to pray by night. Whoever draws nearer (to Allah) by performing any of the (optional) good deeds in (this month) shall receive the same reward as performing an obligatory deed at any other time, and whoever discharges an obligatory deed in (this month) shall receive the reward of performing seventy obligations at any other time. It is the month of patience, and the reward of patience is Heaven. It is the month of charity, and a month in which a believer’s sustenance is increased. Whoever gives food to a fasting person to break his fast, shall have his sins forgiven, and he will be saved from the Fire of Hell, and he shall have the same reward as the fasting person, without his reward being diminished at all.” [Narrated by Ibn Khuzaymah]
As we know the eyes and ears are the doors to our hearts, imagine all that music we listen to during the year, all those movies we watch, or the amount of time we wasted not remembering Allah, our inner self gets polluted and our mind and behavior acts upon it, there are times where we join in an activity and end up missing prayer, or don’t even wake up for fajr, use foul language, express anger, everything our beloved prophet told us to be aware of and refrain from, this doesn’t even include smoking and drinking and partying, for our brothers and sisters trapped by shatan ways.
So wake up, the month is almost here, inshallah if we are able to fast, let it be a reminder that Allah already gave us his mercy by letting us be in this month, so its time we get our act together and really appreciate our body and existence and fulfill in our complete submission to Allah by reading the quran, learning from the trials the ummahs before us and just realize that we are given so much from Allah but we never really understand until we are faced a tribulation, so hold on to the rope of Allah, revive the sunnah, do constant remembrance of your purpose in life…and make sacrifices for the afterlife in heaven inshallah is what we are really traveling towards.
“Whoever fasted Ramadan with faith and in expectancy of reward, his previous sins are forgiven him.” [Bukhari and Muslim]
Here are some tips for having a good ramadan
And oh yea of course the main thing, praying on the odd nights and especially on Laylat al – Qadar
“Whoever prays on Laylat al-Qadr out of faith and sincerity shall have all their past sins forgiven.” [Bukhari and Muslim, from Abu Hurayra (Allah be pleased with him)]
It has been reported that, “Once the last ten [days of Ramadan] started, the Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace be upon him, his family, and companions) used to spend the nights in worship, wake his family, strive, and tighten his belt.” [Bukhari and Muslim] Tighten his belt refers to determination
Oh yea and the whole point of ramadan is to treat your life like your always in it!
Inshallah Allah give us a blessed Ramadan….Ameen!
