ICNA Convention Recap..

Imam Khalid Latif spoke about assimilation and integration, in case you don’t know Imam khalid Latif is the Youngest Chaplain in New York History and has been congratulated by Mayor Bloomberg for this accomplishment. his speech pin pointed how the ummah should approach Non Muslims and basically focus on the bigger picture for the larger benefit. He discussed the challenges we have ahead of us and emphasized on the fact that we have an immense responsibility to fix the image of Islam right now. If we use our resources and skills wisely, we can make a significant difference, positively and in a professional manner. Of course we must stick to the Holy Quran and the Sunnah of our beloved Prophet Muhammad (s).

Brother Nouman Ali Khan from bayyinah institute was excellent as usual. He spoke about identity crisis and realizing who we are and why we should stick to our Islamic tradition. His lecture opened up some confusion between culture and religion and where we should draw the lines. Of course this is a major issue, if we don’t know who we are, how can we set goals based on our principles in life. Imam Siraj Wahaj hyped up the crowd as usual, before he spoke Shaykh Yasir Qadhi gave him props, he called him a giant for the ummah and said hes old. Imam Siraj Wahaj stated laughing, so did the crowd. It was all ummah love.

No I didn’t go to the matrimonial service, haha, but I did go to the basketball tournament. What a relief not organizing it this year like last covention. That was a lot of work. This year another brother did it and Alhumduillah it was real good. Guess who won? Baba Ali from Ummah films. Yup he came for the entertainment sessions and ended up playing ball. He’s mad nice I have to say, his ball handle is unique and his team won the championship. I told him their was baraqa ( blessings in the ball). After all those beneficial videos hes put out. He definitely deserved it. I was able to chill with him after we prayed fajr together, he’s a real cool brother and definitely is as charismatic on his films as he is in person. I saw hijabman as usual with his ballooned up head selling his t shirts. Their wasn’t much fitnah, but umm you gotta lower your gaze, alot of potentiality of flirtation. It’s a big test seeing a sister which you find attractive and controlling yourself, May Allah swt give reward us all. Ameen.

Islam Yo!!!! the old shirt.

Moving forward, I gotta say I love the convention, it gets better every year. I feel like I’m living in a Muslim Country for like three days. It’s always a beneficial experience. Inshallah If you haven’t gone there, go next year. I highly encourage it. It’s affordable, fun, educational, and brings the family together for the Sake of Allah swt Inshallah. Very soon the whole convention will be on DVD to watch from ICNA’s website. Buy it, support the organization. Don’t bootleg it.

I was informed about 12,000 people came. WoW! that’s nice. It’s an increase from last year Alhumdulillah. Well I’m sleepy, If I remember more about the convention tomorrow I’ll definitely add it Inshallah. The theme was Islam: Key to peace and happiness. I felt that when I left,  I missed the experience already but the whole point is to learn and take it back home and put it to practice Inshallah.

Alright my brothers and sisters, if you came, tell me how it went. If you didn’t tell me why you didn’t come. Peace out! May Allah swt keep us strong and fill our hearts with his light. Ameen!… Shout out to brother Nihal khan for the pictures..
